A.R.Rahman's upcoming chillouts!

Friday, 03 November , 2006.
Last week A.R.Rahman decided to chill out at the Taj Fishermen Cove on East Coast Road on the Chennai-Mahabalipuram route.
For Rahman it was work cum relaxation as he was composing two songs for his forthcoming film Kalaipuli S.Thanu’s Chakkarakatti. It is a youth film and the launch pad of K.Bhagyaraj’s son Shantanu.
Rahman took his own time to compose the numbers as wanted to give it a peppy young feel. In fact lyricist Pa Vijay was asked to re-write the lyrics to make the song better.
Meanwhile the buzz is that the introductory song for Rajnikanth in Sivaji is said to be rocking. The superstar is said to have called up Rahman and congratulated him.
Rahman works best with people whom he is comfortable with and there is no one better than Shankar! The Shankar-Rahman combo is one of the biggest success stories in Tamil film audio history.

The Hindu Friday Review November Fest is back

The past five years have seen the launch of several exclusively Hindustani music festivals in the city as well. The Hindu Friday Review November Fest makes an unusual contribution to this teeming richness. By opting to be eclectic and inclusive, it has evolved a character of its own.

This year's November Fest ( seven days of music between 10th - 19th at the Madras Music Academy), is even more adventurous in its choice. Not only does the second edition of the Fest feature artistes new to Chennai, but it gives an opportunity to well known ones to do something wholly different.

Chennai, Oct 31 Several new albums have arrived in the last couple of weeks, but none has been able to topple A.R. Rahman's "Chillunu Oru Kadhal" from the top position.
The top five Tamil albums are:
1. "Chillunu Oru Kadhal" - Music: A.R. Rahman. The film is a huge flop and has been forgotten, but the album is still a rage.
2. "Vallavan" - Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film released during Diwali and there is newfound interest in Yuvan Shankar Raja's album.
3. "E" - Music: Srikant Deva. "Theeppori parakum" sung by Tipu is becoming a big hit.
4. "Kizhakku Kadarkarai Salai" - Music: Paul J. This is Paul J's first film album and he has been able to attract the young with some racy numbers.
5. "Thiruvilayadal Aarambham" - Music: D. Imam. "Ennamma Kannu" by Karthik and Ranjith is becoming popular though some still talk nostalgically about the old SPB Malaysia Vasudevan song.
